The GIS Certificate Program at Elmhurst College uses Citrix XenApp for students to remotely access the ArcGIS Desktop software. XenApp is used to run programs on a server instead of your local computer. This will allow you to access certain programs and network resources from any computer with an Internet connection.

Remote Applications

Remote applications are individual applications that are run on the Xen App server, but displayed on your computer. The ArcGIS Desktop software has been configured to run as a remote application, which looks and functions very similar to applications run on your local computer.
